learn about…

1.) conditioning drills

learn about boxing conditioning drills that will bring your anaerobic strength and stamina to new levels. boxing is an explosive sport that requires a unique combination of speed, power, and stamina. many fighters are misled to believe that long, slow-paced runs satisfy their conditioning needs. boxing is not a sport fought at a slow, leisurely pace. we must pattern our training to mimic the ballistic nature of our sport. these innovative drills are designed to develop the strength and endurance required by all successful fighters.

2.) plyometrics training

plyometrics consist of a variety of exercises that enhance starting speed, acceleration, and power. these exercises consist of bounding, jumping, lifting, and medicine ball drills. by strengthening the nervous system, plyometrics teach the body to react quickly and explosively. these drills will greatly improve your overall boxing performance. in this section, i provide you with plyometrics drills designed to maximize speed and power.

with your purchase, you will become entitled to unlimited training support from the author. any questions you have get answered, guaranteed. give me a try, write to me at ross@rossboxing.com

3.) strength training

when two equally skilled boxers square off with each other in the ring, the stronger man usually wins. in boxing, strength translates into punching power and the ability to “manhandle” your opponent. the old phrase “speed beats power” may be true but speed rarely beats a combination of speed and power. this chapter cuts through the numerous boxing myths associated with weight training. i teach you the specifics of a boxing strength program designed to maximize speed, power, and anaerobic endurance.

4.) running drills

the tradition of a boxer’s morning roadwork is as old as the sport itself. running is an important element of conditioning. proper running will increase your aerobic and anaerobic strength and endurance. unfortunately, most fighters do not follow a boxer's running program. we are training to fight, not to run a marathon. we must run in a sports specific manner. this section teaches you the importance of sprint work, intervals, and other variations of anaerobic and aerobic running drills.

5.) swiss ball training

swiss ball training is one of the latest fitness trends. when you exercise with the swiss ball, you balance yourself on an unstable environment. for example, rather than bench press a barbell on a regular flat bench, you can lie on the ball and perform a dumbbell press. consider the sport of boxing… it involves dodging, ducking, feinting, and punching. these movements are made going backwards, frontward, or sideways. such movements can leave a fighter off balance or out of position. the swiss ball trains your body to operate as one interconnected, functional unit.

6.) nutrition and supplementation

proper diet and supplementation will improve performance by increasing energy, promoting muscle growth, and fostering post-workout recovery. you will be able to train harder and recover faster. when you are able to train harder, your fitness levels will improve proportionately. this chapter provides you with a detailed discussion of vitamins, minerals, meal planning, calorie requirements, and performance enhancing supplements all specific to the sport of boxing. this information will teach you to fuel your body in a manner that maximizes performance. you will learn how to make weight, what to eat before the fight, and a boatload of useful information often overlooked by many fighters.

boxing is loaded with myths and incorrect training principles. break through the confusion with proven training techniques. this program will enhance your speed, strength, power, stamina, and skills. this training manual will take your performance to new levels!!!

7.) boxing is a skill sport

by maximizing your conditioning, you have the ability to outwork your opponent inside the ring. optimizing your speed and power will greatly enhance your performance. in addition, you must not overlook the importance of developing skill. boxing is a skill sport first that relies on a highly conditioned body. boxing is a complicated sport. it did not get its nickname the “sweet science” because it was easy. in this section, i discuss several skill improvement drills for use on the heavy bag, speed bag, and double-end bag. i also explain the importance of sparring and provide numerous combination punching drills that you can use in any fight.

8.) training the mind

to be successful in boxing, you must have confidence in your ability. you will enter the ring with the intention of knocking your opponent out. you must also realize that your opponent enters the ring with the very same intention. this realization can cause nervousness and fear inside. you may start to doubt and question your ability before the bout has even begun. you essentially “psyche” yourself out. so how do you overcome these feelings? the answer is through experience and mental training. every boxer has at one time in their lives had to stare fear in the eyes. we have all had moments when we were nervous. true champions rise up to the challenge while others succumb and crumble to their nervousness and fear. in this section, i teach the importance of training the mind to help, not hurt, your ability.

9.) putting it all together

in this section, i teach you how to piece together each element of training into one complete boxing routine. i provide a complete, 12-week periodized routine that integrates boxing skill training, weight training, plyometrics, conditioning drills, and running into one complete boxing program. i provide you with several sample programs as well as the knowledge to develop your own boxing specific training plan. i have even included training programs that can be conducted with little or no equipment. there are no more excuses for missing valuable gym time. you can use these training techniques anywhere.
