a little history....
welcome to our site, i'm wendy.... and i've been getting booted out of the kitchen for as long as i can remember. we all get booted out of the kitchen when mom makes candy. i have been watching her make, sell and give this candy as gifts for a very long time. the whole family (and all of our friends) look forward to getting their favorites at christmas (mine are pecan brittle & cherry bites, my kids love the truffles flavored with orange or mint, and caramels). i don't know how she does it. she makes these 8 recipes plus a variety of others, and at christmas time especially, the orders really flow in -several hundred pounds of english toffee alone- and she cooks and packages it all herself. so if anyone knows any tips and tricks to get it to turn out right every time, its her !! and it never ceases to amaze me....young or old, male or female..... the reaction is always the same, everyone loves it !! i have been asked for these recipes countless times, but couldn't give them out because i had promised to keep them in the family as long as mom was making these candies and selling them. she has agreed to offer them on this site, and wrote detailed step-by-step instructions that will help anyone that likes to cook, whether you're a pro or a beginner. i put them together in a beautifully formatted ebook, complete with hyperlinks for easy navigation, in either zipped adobe .pdf or zipped word2000 format. the ebook is suitable for printing and binding.

here is an actual email i got after sending some english toffee to a friend: (sept. 18, 2003) ok.. here is the scoop.. i received the candy around 3:30 today. i opened it up and there was about 4 guys in the lab when i did. in about 15 minutes we had approx 15 people there. they all just stood there wondering who made the candy after they had tried some. so i told them and showed them the site. so they ate on and finished the box. all they had to say was that it was the best that they ever had. it beat the candy stores around here and a couple of people that buy a lot of candy said that it beats see's candy by afar. they were really impressed with what your mom did. when the box was empty, they started arguing on who was going to get the crumbs and stuff that was left on the bottom of the box.
i just want to thank your mom and you for the candy. she sure has my vote as the candy lady of utah. thanks again nick c. san diego, ca
